3 Diagonally Opposite a 0

Hard Used by Smart Hint

A 3 catty-corner from a 0: the 3's two sides that reach the shared dot are both lines.

3 0

How it works

  1. The 0 blanks all four of its own edges — two of which meet the dot it shares with the 3.
  2. That dot's only remaining edges are the 3's bottom and right. A dot carries 0 or 2 lines, so those two are both lines or both blank.
  3. Both blank would leave the 3 with only its top and left: two sides, and it needs three.
  4. So both are lines. Note this settles the 3's corner without settling the 3 itself — its top and left are still one line and one X, in some order.
