Terms of Service

These terms cover the GridWits iOS app and this website. By using either, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use GridWits.

1. Who can use GridWits

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use GridWits with a parent or guardian's permission.

2. Your account

You are responsible for activity on your account. Do not impersonate another person, and do not choose a display name or handle that is offensive, misleading, or infringes someone else's rights. We may reclaim a handle that breaks these rules.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account.

3. Community conduct

GridWits includes chat, friends, and tournaments. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You agree not to:

• harass, threaten, bully, or impersonate anyone;
• post hateful, sexual, violent, or otherwise objectionable content;
• send spam, scams, or unsolicited advertising;
• share anyone's personal information, including your own children's;
• use automated tools, exploits, or modified clients to gain an advantage in tournaments, leaderboards, or daily puzzles.

You can block any player and report any message or account from inside the app. We review reports and may remove content, restrict features, or terminate accounts that break these rules — without notice where the behaviour is severe.

4. Fair play

Tournaments and daily puzzles put every player on the same board. Automating solves, sharing solutions during a live event, or manipulating results undermines that, and we may void results, reset progression, or close the account.

5. Purchases and virtual items

Any purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store, under Apple's terms — we never handle your payment details. Virtual items and in-app currency are a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use them inside GridWits. They have no cash value, cannot be sold or exchanged outside the app, and are forfeited if your account is closed for breaking these terms.

Refund requests are handled by Apple, not by us.

6. Our content

GridWits, its puzzle generators, solvers, technique guides, artwork, and name belong to us. You may play the puzzles and share screenshots of your own play. You may not copy, decompile, resell, or build a competing product from the app or its generated content.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you write — your bio, messages, and display name. You grant us the licence needed to store and display it so the app works (for example, delivering your message to its recipient). We may remove content that breaks these terms.

8. Availability

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, including online services such as tournaments, leaderboards, and chat. We will give reasonable notice where we can. Solo play is designed to keep working offline.

9. Disclaimer and liability

GridWits is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost progress or virtual items. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your country.

10. Termination

You may stop using GridWits and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms. Sections 5 through 9 survive termination.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will update the date above and notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use GridWits after that means you accept the new terms.
