Chute Remote Pairs

Expert Used by Smart Hint

Two rows (or columns) in the same "chute" (a 3-box band) sharing the same candidate pair in matching columns let you eliminate that pair from the chute's third row.

A 1 B 2 C 3 D 4 E 5 F 6 G 7 H 8 I 9 4 6 4 6 4 6 9

How it works

  1. Row 1 and row 2 both carry the exact candidate pair {4, 6} — one in column C, the other in column F — inside the same three-box horizontal chute.
  2. Between two rows of a chute, a repeated pair like this always resolves so that the pair is fully used up across those two rows — it can't also appear in the chute's third row. Eliminate {4, 6} from C3.
